This is something I’ve been saying for many months now: “Page Rank doesn’t count too much to evaluate the quality of the links or the quality of the Web Pages“.
Well. Now it’s official. Page Rank is not going to be updated anymore. All our websites and blogs will remain with the current PR, it will be a value that is not going to move, so from now on, all those companies and toolsuite, which still displayed this value will stop doing so.
The only problem now will be which coefficient we will take as a reference to measure positioning. Although there are several of great impact, they are still from companies that have no relationship with google, so it is not completely accurate. Even so, I propose the three most significant coefficients.
Page Rank is dead. It will not be updated anymore.
DA and PA – Moz
Domain authority is one of the most fashionable values in recent months, and especially with the low popularity of Page Rank is one of the values that those of us who are dedicated to positioning have taken as a reference. Especially because of the creator’s entity: Moz.
Among all the services that Moz has, the one that I personally think is the most used and the most demanded is the MozBar. A bar that is installed in the browser and gives you the information of: DA (Domain Authority) – PA (Page Authority), Number of incoming links, and you can also select a tool to color in a specific color all the No Follow links of the page you are viewing as well as the Follows.
Another functionality we can see when searching in google. Just below each result we can see a small bar where you can see all the information about the authority of the page and the domain.
The bar is an extension for both Firefox and Chrome. And you can download it at the following link although to download it I only ask for a social share.
Domain Authority DA is used by most professionals.
Sistrix Coefficient
Sistrix is a web analytics program based on the study of SEO, keywords and links. It is used both to measure the positioning of our website and to study the competition.
The level of positioning in Sistrix is measured with a coefficient that is the result of dividing the average position that occupies and searches that have by the keywords that are ranking.
I find it essential to see the level that a website can have, especially it is basic for the analysis of the competition, and also serves to find some quality links.
The above is the link to access this tool. It is paid but has a free version.
Ahref Domain Rank
It is the measurement coefficient of the Ahref platform. It is a value that identifies the positioning that a website may have based on its external links. It is still a private measurement, but Ahref is one of the most powerful platforms in the detection of inbound links, so it seems to me a value to take into account.
This coefficient goes from 0 to 100 and is categorized as follows:
- 0 – 30 : You are not popular at all.
- 30 – 70: You are one of the referents and in a specific sector.
- 70 – 100: Totally popular. With little or no competition above your value.

Although it is also paid it has a free version that you can use properly.
Each of these three coefficients has its importance. But what is really important is to be able to measure the evolution. In Web Analytics, the important thing is not the unit values of the different metrics or KPI‘s, but the evolution of them. That is why it is so important to be able to have a graph that shows the trend of a website based on its positioning, as Sistrix does, for example.
