Enfold is a theme from Kriesi, one of the most downloaded themes in the themeforest market. I have chosen it for many of my projects because in addition to style and versatility, it had a number of details that made my life a little easier. Especially with the visual builder (Avia) which is proprietary to Kriesi and is not on any site, so it is less likely to be attacked or be vulnerable to attacks like other modules that are marketed in the market.
Why do I Declare myself a Fan of ENFOLD?
Well, because they have incorporated several aspects that make it, for me, the most complete template we can find. The most innovative is that it includes a section so you can minify css and jss, combine them, skip some of them, in short, make fewer requests to the server, which is directly proportional to the loading time of the same.
And this is just one of the small details, which makes the web has something different from the rest.
I’m not going to say it’s the fastest on the market, nor the most secure, nor the most stylish… But I can say loud and clear that it ‘s the most complete.
Let’s see some details of the new update:
- It loads only the options used in the template.
This was something that previously pulled a little back in Enfold, and had to be programmed manually to not load certain features of the template that are not used. Now the guys and gals at Kriesi have added a new tab in the “theme Options” to optimize certain technical details related to the loading speed.
- Css and Js file compression
This is another feature that we can also find in this new tab we were talking about. Although previously we could do this with caching plugins like WP-Rocket (which is the one I use), we often found that when performing the minification and compression of all CSS and JS there were some problems with the display of content, especially if there was a slider or some js in header. Now everything is much simpler, more practical and with less calls.
- Send JS and CSS to the Footer.
It is something that we can also do with the Cache Plugin, but Kriesi already incorporates it in this template from the beginning.
I want to clarify that this new tab that has incorporated does not replace the Cache Plugin, on the contrary. This new section is the perfect complement to Plugin like Wp-rocket and others. This is something that, according to Kriesi, they are going to implement in the next few days. It will be an option to be able to adapt the website to the new European data protection regulations.
Other small but important updates:
Now it is no longer necessary to install any additional Cookie Warning Plugin or anything like that, since in the Theme Options they already incorporate a tab for it. It is displayed in Black, and we can choose the text, the link, the link anchor and little more. It’s very simple but very effective.
It should be noted that this notice of Cookies is not 100% effective because it does not prevent cookies are loaded before the user expressly accept. But I know few Plugins that do just that.
- New design elements in Avia
Avia is Enfold’s visual builder. As we said before it is super easy to use, dynamic and very secure. Every time they are adding new options.
- Line of buttons (like a menu)
- Timeline (ideal for history and so on)
- Typewriter header
They are small details to keep in mind that always make our lives easier and can make our designs very interesting.
- A new demo that is essential to start working
The guys and girls at Kriesi have come up with a new template, and there are already a few, that we can use to customize our work. As they say, it can be the perfect guinea pig to start working.
- Customization of the 404 page
The 404 page is always the workhorse of all themes. Since very few include customization and in most cases we can see how web pages in Spanish have texts and options in English. I don’t want to extend much more because I don’t pretend this post to be a guide to Enfold or anything like that. Simply that I have been very happy, as it was my choice for some of my own projects and now I can say that I have not been wrong.
